Here is our guide to the latest UK Government guidelines for international travel.

If you have any questions that we haven’t covered here, do not hesitate to get in touch.

Do I need travel insurance?

When booking a holiday with Create Your Escape Travel, it is more important than ever to make sure you have adequate travel insurance in place, a lot of Tour Operators are insisting that this cover includes pre travel COVID cover, should you test positive or are required to self-isolate from NHS track and trace.

This is your responsibility to arrange. If you choose to travel against the FCDO advice or to a destination which is exempt from the travel corridor list, it is important to check your cover with the provider.

On returning to the UK fully vaccinated passengers & under 18’s will no longer need to take a pre departure test before returning to England. They just need to complete a UK Passenger Locator Form within 48 hours of travelling to the UK.
Fully vaccinated travellers need to book and pay for a UK Day 2 Lateral Flow Test.
Fully vaccinated passengers & under 18s will no longer need to self-isolate whilst waiting for post-arrival results if arriving after 4am Friday 7 Jan

NHS app

The main NHS app, not the specific NHS Covid app, will be accepted as proof of vaccination status.

All double vaccinated persons will need to obtain their NHS COVID Pass – this details the vaccinations and produces a QR code valid for 1 month.

To download the pass as a PDF or get a PDF sent to you in an email you must either use the NHS App or NHS website:

downloading the NHS App

OR

use the online NHS COVID Pass service https://covid-status.service.nhsx.nhs.uk/

for ease, I suggest you have your NHS number to hand, otherwise you need to upload some form of ID, you can find this on your prescriptions

You will need to register, if not done so already, with an email address, phone number and password

I initially accessed the NHS COVID Pass online and registered. The whole process took me 5 minutes.

I have just downloaded the NHS App on my phone which is useful as I can access my NHS COVID Pass at any time and it generates a new PDF with a QR code every time your old one has expired. This may be something we have to access more frequently in the future.

To date more than 30 countries and territories are now recognising vaccine certification as part of entry requirements and accepting a proof of vaccination letter, or the NHS app. The government’s aim is to “continue to increase that number so that the NHS app becomes the natural default”.
