Lake District

Home to stunning scenery set against the Cumbrian landscape, the Lake District is the perfect getaway for those who like a ramble and want to avoid the crowded British beaches. Whether you like walking, climbing, cycling or rowing on the lakes, the Lake District is the place to do it. And after a hard day’s adventuring why not relax in the tea rooms of one of the many quaint and charming stone and slate villages.

Scotland

There’s nothing quite like seeing whales in their natural environment. And Scotland is one of the best places in the world to spot these majestic beasts. Take a whale watching cruise around the Scottish Highlands between May and September.

For the ultimate road trip around Scotland take the North Coast 500 and experience white sand beaches, historical ruins and picture-perfect castles. Or if you prefer to sit back and relax, take a ride on one of Scotland’s iconic train journeys like the West Highland Line, as featured in the Harry Potter films, for a truly magical trip.

Yorkshire

God’s Own Country, Yorkshire is a vast county full of delights to explore. It too boasts its own historic railway journeys like the iconic Settle-Carlisle line across the scenic Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines. Or you can take a day trip to the magnificent York with its mediaeval splendour and awe-inspiring Gothic cathedral, York Minster.

Wales

If it’s sea and sand you’re after but you can’t quite bring yourself to join the clamour to visit some of the UK’s more prominent seaside towns, why not enjoy the seclusion of some of Wales’ beautiful beaches like Porth Ceiriad or Marloes Sands.

Experience the wonder that is Portmeirion Village resort in North Wales, designed in the style of an Italian village by Sir Clough Williams in the early 20th century. This enchanting village, with its ornamental garden and central piazza, is a must for any visit to Wales.

Ireland

Ireland has it all. Explore the Wild Atlantic Way and take in Ireland’s spectacular coast. Or take in Giant’s Causeway in all its glory. Galway has best native oysters on the planet and is a must for any oyster fan,. For the history buffs, check out Belfast’s Titantic Museum, the world’s largest Titanic visitor experience. And don’t forget your passport (it’s been a while).
